Quality Management Program
At BPIC, our goals are reliable operation and energy efficiency. To ensure that our power plants consistently meet the planned production requirements agreed with our customers, our Standard Operating Procedure is applied to the Company's operations.
All of our power plants are operated in accordance with the China National regulations for thermal power plants and we strive to achieve international Industry Best Practice throughout our organization; from coal procurement and handling to boiler and turbine operation and maintenance as well as water and waste treatment and pollution control. Mentoring by experienced experts and independent safety and efficiency audits are conducted regularly.
Quality Management Systems are being established through many programs such as Innovation, 6S and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) which are being implemented in order to enhance overall performance, maximize productive capacity, minimize overall cost and improve workplace conditions and culture.
Occupational Health and Safety Management Program
BPIC has adopted occupational health and safety management systems in accordance with the China National policy to effectively manage the Company’s activities and operations while achieving legislative compliance, preventing harm to our staff, contractors and the concerned parties as well as mitigating and minimizing risks from the Company’s activities for the preservation of Banpu’s reputation and financial stability.
Risk assessment audits are regularly conducted with the aim of identifying hazards and to manage risks associated with Banpu’s activities and ensure that risks are minimized and controlled. Even though threats cannot be totally eliminated, the risk levels must be managed by focusing on how to reduce the likelihood of those risks and by optimizing costs and benefits associated with risk reduction. We have also established and maintained procedures for the ongoing identification of hazards, the assessment of risks, and the implementation of necessary control measures.
The successful management of our occupational health and safety management systems starts with the involvement of everyone from top management to on-site staff in a systematic and continuous improvement of hazard identification and mitigation.
Environmental Management Program
BPIC is especially mindful of its responsibility to society and the environment, and has long made it a priority in every aspect of its business. BPIC implements a program of strict environment impact assessment, choosing the appropriate technology and setting out a comprehensive master-plan and implementation of an Environmental Management System to ensure proper compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and minimal environment impact whilst pursuing its business objectives.
BPIC is implementing ISO14001:2004 in order to further enhance the established Environmental Management Systems at each power plant and provide further assurance on environmental issues to external stakeholders – such as customers, the community and regulatory agencies.
BPIC also takes pride in many community development projects it initiates in the area in which it operates. These projects are designed specially to raise awareness of the importance of environmental protection and improve the quality of life of local communities.
